Design Instagram Quote Graphic Template

Design Instagram Quote Graphic Template
In this tutorial, we will discuss what you will need to create an Instagram quote template. Instagram quotes are very popular and a great way to add variety to your Instagram feed. Using a template can streamline the process when creating your quote graphics.

Two great examples of using Instagram quotes as part of their marketing strategy are the Instagram feeds by me & my BIG ideas and Erin Condren. Both companies sell popular planners and planner accessories. Inspirational sayings are included in these planners in several forms, from the cover graphics to the stickers. These feel good about yourself messages are a big part of their planner product lines and they carry this over to Instagram by using Instagram quote graphics.

Quote Design Elements

To design a template we first need to analyze an Instagram quote graphic. They are a 1080 x 1080 pixel graphic that can be posted just like any other Instagram post. The quote makes the main statement but you still want to add more information in the text, call a caption, of the post.

These quote graphics are made up of only a few design elements, with the two main elements being a background graphic and the quote text. The background can be a photo, illustration, pattern, gradient or solid color. You can use the background to set the theme for the quote. Adding a shape overlay under the quote text helps with the text readability. If you use a photo or illustration, the image needs to have a lot of empty space in order to display the quote. Another option to help with text readablity would be to add a color overlay to the photo, which creates a contrast between the photo and the quote text.

When adding the quote text, use a font that will emphasize or enhance the meaning and style of the quote. Although designer fonts are very popular, try to limit the number of fonts to two.

Branding

Many times, these quote graphics will be reposted and shared by others, so you do want to include some identification about who posted the quote. However, you don't want this to compete with the quote graphic.

Both companies mentioned above include a small logo graphic at the bottom of the quote image. By keeping the logo small, it will not distract from the quote graphic but still inform people about who posted the quote. Use the post Caption text box to include more information about your message but do this in a way that relates to the quote message.
